Two Harkonnen sisters fight against forces that threaten the future of humanity and found a legendary sect that would become known as the Bene Gesserit. Whether exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about. This series uses material from the Great Schools of Dune trilogy by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. A prequel to the original Dune, it tells the story of how the Sisterhood of Rossak evolved into the Bene Gesserit.

All three books intertwine the development of the Sisterhood, the Mentats, the Navigators, and the Suk Doctors. HBO’s new original series Dune: The Prophecy is a prequel to Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel Dune. However, the series is based on the 2012 novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. It centers around the Sisterhood – the origins of the Bene Gesserit, set 10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides.
A power struggle ensues between the sisters
Episode 1: The Hidden Hand is a science fiction fantasy drama with stunning special effects and mesmerizing scenery. This episode introduces Valya Harkonnen (Emily Watson) and how she becomes the leader of the Sisterhood. Valya trains young women as truth-tellers by subjecting them to rigorous physical and mental conditioning to develop supernatural abilities. They believe that the power of survival is the power of humanity and lies – man’s greatest weapon. Valya also has a sister, Tula Harkonnen (Olivia Williams), who is the Reverend Mother.

Meanwhile, Emperor Javicco Corrino (Mark Strong) is tasked with reigning peace in the Empire, but must face his own struggles to maintain power and control when he reluctantly decides to allow the young son (literally, child) of Duke Ferdinand Riches (Brendan Cowell) to marry his daughter Princess Ynez (Sarah-Sofie Boussnina) to secure an alliance when she becomes heir to the throne of the Golden Lion. Matters intensify when Princess Ynez is influenced by her self-centered brother Constantine Corrino (Josh Heuston) and her desire to control swordsman Kieran Atreides. Amidst all the chaos, a mysterious soldier, Desmond Hart (Travis Fimmel), eases his way into the Empire, intent on gaining Emperor Javicco Corrino’s trust. It was truly exciting to watch the first episode of Dune: Prophecy premiere on the big screen. Showrunner Alison Schapker is known for bringing cinematic visual effects to imaginative sci-fi worlds on screen, as evidenced by TV series Lost, The Flash, HBO’s critically acclaimed Westworld, and now Dune: Prophecy.
Viewers will definitely enjoy the premise of the Sisterhood against "thinking machines" (AI technology) to preserve the power of humanity
Going with a high-quality ensemble cast accompanied by fresh up-and-coming actors will appeal to a wider audience thanks to the diversity of the characters and the trajectory of the story.
