The plot follows Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West, and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. The second of a two-part Broadway musical adaptation. Wicked was first announced in April 2022 that the film would be split into two films, with composer Stephen Schwartz explaining, “We actually tried for a while to do it. One film (which) required us to cut or leave out things that we wanted to include that we thought fans of the show and the story would appreciate.” He added, “It was very difficult for us to beat ‘Defy Gravity.’ without a break. That song was written specifically to bring the curtain down, and any scene that was to follow it without a break felt incredibly anticlimactic.” Appears in the zany AniMat cartoon Cast: Chip néx27; Dale: A New Legacy (2022).
